On a mission to make every internet user privacy savvy.

Welcome to PrivacySavvy, your one-stop-information-hub for everything privacy-related. We cover expert consumer guides, breaking news, statistics, lists, and more on security and privacy.

After working in cybersecurity for over a decade and contributing to numerous outlets, our founder started PrivacySavvy in 2020. He began the mission, which now is a common vision of an accountable number of digital privacy and freedom experts at PrivacySavvy, to educate and empower worldwide users to take control of their online privacy.

What We Do

PrivacySavvy about team part combined photo

We’re a multinational team of privacy enthusiasts and security professionals – a squad of over thirty cybersecurity researchers, writers, editors, and analysts worldwide across 12 countries. We’re privacy geeks, and we’re proud of it. We aim to make every internet user privacy-savvy, and our extensive research focuses on online privacy, VPNs, digital security, and internet freedom.

PrivacySavvy’s mission is to provide you with all the information and tools you need to ensure that your internet privacy is intact, your devices are secure, and you’re safe any time you step online.

Therefore, anything on the site is honest, free, and open to everyone.

Working with a common vision, our team tirelessly brings you the latest security news and the most relevant information about online privacy. Everything published on this site is thoroughly reviewed and checked constantly.

Numerous reputable websites, including Wikipedia, Entrepreneur, Mashable, Kaspersky, TheSun, and many others, frequently cite our content.

PrivacySavvy’s Core Values: What We Stand For

At PrivacySavvy, our foundation rests on honesty, accessibility, and integrity. Every VPN, antivirus software, and cybersecurity tool we review undergoes meticulous in-house testing and evaluation to provide accurate and reliable information.

We procure VPN subscriptions at their standard rates, just like any regular consumer, ensuring our reviews are as genuine and impartial as possible. We also rigorously test and independently vet each VPN and security tool we write about and review.

We staunchly adhere to the ethos of impartiality; no payment is accepted to influence our review outcomes or conceal any imperfections. Every review we publish mirrors our sincere and precise opinions, with each tool meticulously assessed by our team of researchers and security experts.

While visitors may choose to subscribe to a VPN provider via our website links, any commission we receive from the VPN provider does not impact our reviews. We exclusively endorse VPNs that our team wholeheartedly believes in, substantiated by our rigorous testing.

Our Team

The Research Lab

The PrivacySavvy Research Lab, which consists of 5 white hat cybersecurity researchers, works with top-notch data protection agencies and CERTs (Computer Emergency Response Teams) to investigate potential threats like malware, adware, data breaches, and vulnerabilities to help users protect their businesses, organizations, and data. Moreover, we report cybersecurity breach incidents so companies, organizations, and users can protect their personal information.

We started our user-friendly service in 2020 under the direction and supervision of cybersecurity analyst and expert Ali Qamar. We have already educated and helped over 50 million users worldwide to protect themselves from cyber threats.

Our research lab has reported and helped multiple entities fix critical issues. Below, you’ll find links to our research studies:

Entirely Independent

Today, in most cases in the cyber world, one entity owns the review website and the products being reviewed. For instance, there’s talk about VPN companies buying or even creating review websites.

Sometimes, the sites directly own the products or services they recommend to readers.

However, PrivacySavvy is an entirely independent site without ownership or a major financial stake in the services or products we have listed on the website.

Moreover, no VPN service or other entity owns PrivacySavvy. You might ask, who owns the site?

A privacy activist who originally started the site owns and operates it (even though we have multiple authors, security researchers, and a team worldwide). One UK-based private investment firm, KI Capital Ltd, with company number 09855331, has invested in us. The same company is also invested in ExtremeVPN, a VPN service you might find on our website. PrivacySavvy is incorporated as a separate private limited company with no other external financial interests or outside owners.

Please note KI Capital Ltd’s shares in PrivacySavvy do not influence our editorial or other quality standards.

KISS Principle

Our primary objective is to publish free guides in conjunction with the KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) principle, which states that systems work best when kept simple and not complicated.

Security and online privacy must be simple, and making it complicated could be a stumbling block for folks looking to restore their privacy. We keep our guides informative yet straightforward to cater to a broader audience.

So, what makes PrivacySavvy stand out from the rest?

No Sponsorships

PrivacySavvy doesn’t accept sponsorships of any kind or even payments to promote services and products. We only recommend products and services based on our research and test results.

Besides, PrivacySavvy does not do paid reviews. Unlike most websites that are paid to write reviews by companies, PrivacySavvy reviews services/products independently without being paid for conducting a review. Furthermore, we’ll never accept any remuneration to modify or even change any review.

No ads

Also, we do not accept advertising payments or host ads.

Paid advertising could result in bias and conflict of interest. Besides, ads can violate your privacy or be a security risk.

No Tracking

We don’t use any invasive tracking software except Google Analytics (for our internal use only, such as audience analysis, etc.) and make sure we comply with GDPR data privacy regulations in every way possible.

Not Paid for Ranking or Content

PrivacySavvy is never and will never be paid to recommend or rank products and services over the rest.

Also, we don’t publish paid content. The fact that we highlight many privacy and security tools doesn’t mean we’re paid to do so.

We do not participate in paid link schemes either. We are committed to never getting paid to link particular websites, articles, blogs, etc.

We Don’t Accept Guest Posts

At PrivacySavvy, we take our role as an independent cybersecurity information website very seriously. Unlike some sites, we do not publish guest posts or allow companies to pay for mentions in our articles. While these arrangements can help grow an audience and bring in revenue, we feel that accepting paid promotions would undermine the trust we’ve built with our readers over the years.

Our goal is to provide honest, unbiased recommendations – not to serve as a marketing platform. When you read one of our reviews, you can feel confident that our opinion reflects our authentic perspective, not that of an outside company trying to push its product. We research, evaluate, and write all of our content because we believe maintaining our independence and objectivity is crucial.

We know it can be tempting to accept money from advertisers. However, staying true to our principles is more important to us than short-term financial gain. We’d rather grow our site slowly through hard work than compromise our integrity for a quick buck.

We’ll continue to turn down guest posts and other paid content offers and provide trustworthy recommendations for our readers to count on.

Delve Into and Assess Your Choices

Among the diverse array of resources we offer, you’ll find product comparisons and reviews. Like our extensive guides and research studies, these resources center on educating our readers.

Individuals can make informed decisions when selecting home and personal security products and services, provided they have access to precise and impartial information. Consequently, our team of security experts and dedicated editorial professionals invest significant effort to ensure that readers can genuinely assess their options without the interference of biased reviews. Our company is dedicated to crafting information rooted in facts that our readers can rely upon.

How PrivacySavvy Makes Money

The reasons why we don’t run ads are;

  1. Ads can be a security risk.
  2. Ads could sometimes abuse reader privacy (they act as data collection tools and advanced tracking for advertising networks).
  3. They could result in a conflict of interest.

Therefore, the site cannot make money. We have picked a few affiliates that align with the PrivacySavvy mission to continue operating the website and cover the costs.

For instance, if you get a VPN subscription via a link on the site, we may earn some small commission without any additional cost. We also don’t work with companies with dishonest practices or lousy track records. Also, affiliation with any provider does not influence our editorial practices. All PrivacySavvy reviews and articles are based on rigorous testing and independent evaluations of the services/products.

Most of the earned income is invested in researching, writing, and testing different privacy and security tools in addition to the fixed costs of running a website.
